Food trucks are very popular in North America, providing both gourmet and traditional foods.
In Anglophone Canada, these vehicles go by the term “food truck”.
However, in Francophone Canada, they are called “canteens”, French for cafeteria.
In The United Kingdom, food trucks did not come “into their own “ until post World War 2.
During the war, they were used to provide food but also to boost morale.
In current times, these trucks are called “snack vans” and fill a valuable need in providing food at reasonable prices.
Food trucks serving restaurant quality food did not appear in France until 2013.
Perhaps, most surprising is that food truck operators must get permission from 4 different government bodies.
That may be difficult, but at least better than in Mexico, where food trucks remain unregulated and illegal.
