Creative City Collaborative Announces Open House for Bailey Contemporary Arts (BaCA)

The Creative City Collaborative (CCC), the visionary team that created Arts Garage in Delray Beach, is proud to announce the Open House Bailey Contemporary Arts (BaCA) in Pompano Beach.  The complimentary event will take place from 5-8pm on Wednesday, April 16th and will include a tour of the venue, which has undergone a $1.2 million renovation. The inaugural art show will feature an eclectic mix of local and national artists that will ignite the cultural renaissance in Pompano Beach. The evening will also showcase live entertainment by CCC’s dynamic singing duo, Shod. For more information visit: www.BacaPompano.org.
“We are thrilled to open the doors to BaCA with this open house celebration,” said Alyona Ushe, Executive Director of CCC. “The CCC will be having its formal opening in May, however, we wanted to give the community an early opportunity to explore this new cultural gem and learn about the outstanding programming BaCA will offer including art exhibitions, music, film screenings, visual and performing art lessons for all ages, and summer camps for children.”
One of the primary missions of the venue is to serve as a cultural hub to showcase and nurture visual artists, providing work spaces and exhibit space. Spearheading this initiative is Alan Stewart, who has called upon his years of expertise to cull an exciting and diverse array of talent for the opening exhibit.
“Working at all levels of their career, these artists are at this point poised to take their work to new places,” says Stewart.  “The work represents the humanity invested in the creative process across a lifetime. The work embodies the artists’ creative energy at the most dynamic times in their lives, and the common thread in this exhibition is that all of them are on the cusp of something bigger.”
BaCA is the core of the redevelopment by the Northwest Community Redevelopment Agency (NWCRA) in Old Pompano and will serve as the hub for the emerging Creative Arts district. “Live performances are an integral part of the programming at BaCA. Our open house will have a preview of what people can expect from our upcoming events,” said Drew Tucker, Director of Education and Community Outreach.  “From Poetry and Hip Hop, to Jazz and Blues, residents of Pompano Beach will be treated to a diverse array of high quality cultural experiences. Educators from our school for visual and performing arts will be on hand to give a taste of the quality offerings that will be available at BaCA.”
The open house will take place in conjunction with ArtHall, a monthly art exhibit located across the street in the CRA Business Resource Center (50 NE 1st Street). The street will be closed for live music, art, food trucks by Gourmet Truck Expo and complimentary wine from 5:30-7:30. For more information on ArtHall, contact Susan Kores at (954) 586-1199.
